Equipment being used during shoots
During the shoots we are using a vast array of equipment to keep in communication with each other, film and to aid us in capturing various types of shoots. To help us keep in contact with each other we have a coupe of different ways of communication on shoots and off shoots, on shoots we are using smart phones (Mine: Samsung galaxy note 2, Alex: Apple i phone 5, Sorrel: Samsung galaxy s3, Josh: Samsung galaxy Ace Y) Using smart-phones we can call or text other members in the group if necessary for example if someone is late or like on our Winterton we used smart phones to talk to each other so we discuss what the shot looked liked from multiple angles and distances to make it look the best we can. Outside of the shoot I created a Face book group and invited all members in our filming group so we can communicate with each other at home or anywhere else that we have an internet connection, through this we can organise shooting times, locations etc. Also with the face book group the messages are permanently there so unlike a phone call we can go back and review what was posted, also as a sharing site we can post photo's taken on set or rough edits tat we have produced which others can look at and add comments on what can be improved and what they liked about them. To get the best quality shots we decided to use Josh’s Nikon D3200 DSLR Camera along with a Nikon 18-55 MM Lens, we decided to use this combination of camera and lens because it produces high quality images and video and can reach a long distance due to the long range lens attached to the front, this along with the tripod we are using will come together to produce a very clear and stable image so it is easy for the viewer to see and understand what is going on. Josh and Stuart from a different media group came together and produced a track which runs along a couple of plastic poles, we decided to use this along with our camera and tripod to open up the variety of shots we can produce, the track allows us to film stable tracking shots which can either be face on or side on, these shots can be filmed steadily due to the balance which is offered by the track.
Winterton Shoot (Location shots and shoots during filming)
We choose Winterton as our beach scene as it is symbolic to the songs title 'Across the sea'. Winterton also has a wide open beach with sand dunes located at the rear of the beach, this element of the beach allows us to have multiple twists, we could use the dunes symbols as both of our characters have had problems in their lives and the dunes could represent this by having the actors walk through, reaching the open beach along with sea being the end of there journey. During this shoot we were filming the dune scenes and the open beach scenes, however we were also suppose to be filming the scenes where our lead female actor enters the sea with stones in her pockets and having our second male actor running in after her to save her, we did not manage to get this done done to the weather becoming too cold, this along with two of the cast suffering from colds we decided to do this at a later date when we also have more time available to perfect the scene.
